Several years ago, Chris and I watched the movie "The Notebook" together and I think that movie is probably every woman's all-time favorite. It's the story of an elderly man whose wife has Alzheimer's and can't remember him and so every day he faithfully pulls out this notebook with the words "The Story of Us" handwritten on the front and he opens it up and he reads to her the story of how they met and fell in love and it helps her start to remember again, if even for just a brief moment. After we watched the movie, Chris said "Kerry, that is so romantic! Could you write the story of us?" and in a brief moment of insanity, I said, "You bet! No problem, that'd be easy. No big deal. In fact, I'll give it to you on our 25th wedding anniversary" which was four years away at the time so I wasn't too worried about it and I have to say, the next day I got right on it and I bought this blank book but last month was our 25th wedding anniversary and about a week before, yeah, two people clapped, thank you very much for that (laughter), yeah. But a week before, I got out the story of us just to see how far along I had gotten and I just had one paragraph (laughter), but it was a really good paragraph (laughter). I mean, it was so deep and so moving, it just kind of encapsulated the whole story of us if you ask me, so it really wasn't the story of us, it was the paragraph of us and I thought, I had better get on this so I worked real hard and I came up with another paragraph (laughter) and so I gave Chris on our 25th wedding anniversary the two paragraphs of us and she is so forgiving and loving that she said, "Oh, Kerry, that's great! That's wonderful!" You know, but I am determined to finish out the other 150 pages in this but my unfinished story reminded me what a pro at procrastination I really am. But I'm not the only one. There are multitudes of books that are half written. There are countless paintings that are unfinished. There are really numerous dreams that people have never really gone for and attempted. There are really multitudes of potential masterpieces that are unfinished because we are a procrastination nation. I mean, why do today what you can put off for the next generation? That's kind of our philosophy, isn't it? We're all good at procrastination. Well, why do we procrastinate? Well, there's several reasons.
First, we get paralyzed by fear.
