----

There are several times in all of our lives when we come to a crossroad. A historical hinge point. A fork in the road. I call them Defining Moments because the choices you make at those times can define your life for years to come. I have had five or six of these defining moments in my life, where you had the choice to step forward in faith or shrink back in fear. Where you can choose the right path or you can choose the wrong path. As I look back on my life I am so thankful that God helped me to make his choices at those defining moments. The question that you have in your heart and mind when you come to those forks in the road, when you come to those defining moments is, how do you know what path to take? How do you know which path to choose? That great theologian Yogi Bera once said, "When you come to the fork in the road, take it." Now, that is a lot of help. I'm starting a new series today that I think will be a lot of help to all of us as we look to God's word to find out what do we do when we come to those defining moments, those crossroads in life. The first defining moment that we are going to talk about is "What Do You Do When You Need A Miracle?" Because some day you will need one. Some of you need a miracle this week. Maybe it's a financial miracle. Maybe it's a health miracle. Maybe it's a relational miracle in your marriage or your family. If you don't need a miracle this week, I can guarantee you, you will one day. Some day you'll need a miracle. Maybe it's this week. So, take out your outlines from your program and, if you'd like, open your Bibles to 2 Kings 4:1 because we are going to take a look at a miracle in the old testament that God performed through a guy named Elisha and we find in this miracle the process that God always uses when He wants to work a miracle in our lives. It's the same process over and over. Look at 2 Kings 4:1, our first verse. "One day the widow of one of Elisha's fellow prophets came to Elisha and cried out to him, "My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves." What we have here, folks, is a real problem. A major league problem and this poor lady has gone through a terrible tragedy.
