Did you ever stop to think about why God leaves us here on this earth after we become a believer? For those of you who have trusted Christ, did you every stop to think why does God leave me here when He could just take me on to Heaven where there would be no more pain and problems because once you trust Christ your salvation is secured, your destiny is determined. So why doesn't God immediately snap His fingers and bring us on to Heaven where everything is just great? There's one reason. He leaves us here on this earth to take some people with us to Heaven. That's why. There are two things you can't do in Heaven. One is sin and the second is tell others about Christ. There will be no desire to sin when you get to Heaven. That's a good thing, but there will be no need to tell others about Christ when you get to Heaven because everyone will be believers. There are two things you can't do in Heaven, sin and tell others about Christ. Which one of those things do you think God left you here on this earth to do? I don't think sin. Some of you are already thinking, wow, it's my only chance to sin. I didn't realize that. No, that's not what I'm talking about. We're in this series I'm calling iTunes Theology where we're taking songs from the culture and then we're going to God's Word and we're downloading the real play list of truth so that we can discover some principles that will change our life. Today we are using the song "How To Save A Life" by The Fray because the real reason why God has left us here on this earth is to be a lifesaver, to give the life preserver of Jesus Christ to those who are drowning and so many are drowning all around us. We just don't see it. So I want to talk today about how to save a life and fulfill the purpose for which God left you on this earth to do. We are going to look at a passage from scripture that really gives us the three steps on how to save a life. It's in the book of Luke so I want you to turn in your Bibles to Luke, Chapter 5, verse 17. As we see some friends who loved a friend enough to take their friend to Jesus Christ and they realized their purpose was to save lives. So would you stand in honor of God's Word? You don't have to read it out loud. It's a long passage, but just follow along with me. "One day as He was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for Him to heal the sick.
