There's been a lot of talk recently about the end of the world and it all stems from the date December 21st, 2012 and it all got started by the ancient civilization of the Mayans who were really obsessed with times and dates and calendars and one of their calendars ends on December the 21st, 2012, causing some throughout the years to speculate that this would be the end of the world. Well, now there are thousands of websites devoted to 2012. In fact, if you Google the words "December 21st, 2012", you will find that there's 16,800,000 results and next month there's a major Hollywood movie called 2012. It has a $200 million budget. It's made by the same guy who made Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow and he said "my goal is to create the mother of all disaster films". Now I found it interesting in that clip of the movie, you saw Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro get destroyed completely and as you know, Rio was just awarded the Olympics for 2016 so I guess they don't have to worry about it (laughter) if the world gets destroyed in 2012. Chicago shouldn't be so bummed after all (laughter). The apocalyptic super hype is coming into a frenzy and just think, it's still three years away. I can't even imagine what the talk is going to be like when we enter the year 2012. There's already been a History channel show called Doomsday 2012. Every major news organization has done a story on it. There's even an app on my iPhone that can count down to 2012. In fact, go ahead and put it up. There it is. It's good to know we have 1,150 days and 12 hours left. Isn't that exciting? And so you can always check it to see how much time you've got left and what you need to do. My point is, by the time we get around to the year 2012, the hype and the crazy talk is going to be like Y2K on steroids and you remember Y2K. I mean, a lot of people got all the canned goods and their guns and their gold and went down into their bunker, you know, to await the end of the world because of all the computer viruses and I think some are still down there (laughter). I mean, can you imagine the guy that comes out of his bunker in 2012 in November and he says, "What? The world ends next month? I've got to go back!" You know, really my goal for the next two weeks in this miniseries 2012 is sort of to do a preemptive strike to help us learn what the Bible has to say about these things and so we'll be not scared but prepared and there's going to be so much talk.
