It is great to be back at Woodlands Church. I love our church! You may not believe this, but I really don't like to be away from home. I'm really a homebody. It's just God and my beautiful wife, Chris, always push me out of my comfort zone to take me to some of the most remote places in the world to preach or to do ministry or lead a mission trip, and this Summer God really moved me out of my comfort zone, because he impressed upon me to be on the front lines of ministry at Woodlands Church, and it began the beginning of the Summer with Chris and I for the first time ever being the teachers at our high school camp. And we got to teach every night to over 400 of our high school students, and they just inspired us so much with their passion for God, and I got baptize 73 of them in the ocean, which was just so amazing for me, and really all the things God lead us to do this Summer to be on the front lines of ministry was not so that we could to great ministry. No. Our staff and our pastors, they don't really need me to be on the front lines doing that. All the same things would have happened or even more, but God allowed that for my benefit so he could do a fresh encounter in my heart, and it all ended just recently as we lead a two-week mission trip of 25 of our college students to Kenya, and there's an amazing ministry that we partner with, Deliverance Church. It's in the quarry slum, and they have a great senior pastor and an unbelievable student ministry that reaches all these teenagers there in the slum. And last year I had the privilege of being there as the teenage ministry dedicated a sound system that Woodlands Church had given them, and all these teenagers were their celebrating and worshipping, and there are about 25 young people that lead the student ministry there. They are between maybe 20 and 25 years of age. They are brilliant, creative, and they are so passionate for Jesus Christ. They just have very limited opportunities, and they live in quarry slum, and many of them live in houses with just a tin roof, one room with maybe six or seven family members and a dirt floor. But these kids, we feel like, are out kids now. So what Chris and I wanted to do was bring about 25 of our college students who are leaders at our church and bring them over there with their 25 young leaders and do ministry together for a couple of week. And it was an explosion of God's power, and we knew it would be, and we love those young Kenyan leaders like our own. In fact they call Chris, Mama Chris.
