Psalm 32
It just hurt so bad, I tore the tendon off the kneecap a serious injury. I did this on a Monday night and went to the emergency room. They said, "Well, you need to go see an orthopedic surgeon." And so I went to my orthopedic surgeon the next day and he said, "Jeff, you need surgery." And so Wednesday morning I'm scheduled for surgery. I'm in surgery. It was supposed to be about 2 hours but ended up being almost 4. And they had difficulty because they couldn't reattach it because there was nothing there. It had pulled off the kneecap. So they had to drill through my kneecap and kind of cinch it up. I woke up from that surgery in the worst pain of my life. I mean, I thought it was bad Monday night, but now it was worse. And it took them a long time to get me into my room. And my wife was saying, "What is the matter?" They said, "Well, we're having trouble managing his pain." And they finally got me to a room, and I was in so much pain. And I just said, "I need some pain medicine." And they said, "We've given you all the pain medicine that we can give you." And I just looked at my wife, and there were tears just coming out of my face because I was in so much pain. I said, "Debbie, help me." And my wife, she was like Wonder Woman. She just sprung into action. She spun around and she had her cape on (laughter), and she was ready to go. And she went to talk to that nurse's station. And she said, "You call the doctor right now and you get him some pain medicine." They said, "We can't. We've given him all the pain medicine we can give him." She said, "There's more that you can do." And within about 10 minutes they called the doctor. He said, "Yes, give him some pain medicine." And they came in with a big shot of morphine, and the world was right again (laughter). It was so wonderful. See, I was hurting so bad, and that shot was just what the doctor ordered. And I wasn't hurt ...
