"Music" This year we are given, we are given the chance, a chance to start fresh, a chance to start clean. We are given, given the gift of a new day and the power to make the most of each day given. The time is now and now is here. Everything changes today.
We are in a new series that I'm calling Clean Slate as we are learning the Etch-A-Sketch principle. With an Etch-A-Sketch whenever you make a mistake you shake it and it wipes the slate clean and whenever I bring my mistakes, my failures and my sins to God he wipes the slate clean. He gives me a fresh start but then I have to give him the controls of my life so he can draw the changes he wants to make in me. We are studying Genesis chapter 1 because the process God used to create the world is the same process God wants to use in my life to create a genesis of new growth and change.
I want us to briefly overview the principles used in God's creative process. First, God created light. He said let there be light. That represents inspiration from God, a vision from God or an idea from God because all change starts with an idea from God. The second thing God created was land. That's the opportunities here on earth. The light is inspiration from heaven and the land is opportunities here on earth. The real possibilities that God places in our lives that he wants us to take advantage of and then the third principle in the process is life. God created life. He created the vegetation and the seeds to grow and that life represents the passion in your heart and real and sustained change can only take place when you live from the passion that God has placed in your heart. The next principle is likeness. The Bible says that God created man and woman in his likeness; in his image. So, likeness is really the character of Christ. Real change takes place from the inside out as my character becomes more like Jesus Christ. Then the fifth principle in the process is leverage. It's God's blessings. God said to mankind be fruitful and multiply and God wants to multiply your influence and opportunities this year. He wants to bless you. So you see it starts with light, an idea from God and then it goes to leverage blessings from God. It starts with an idea and it ends with blessings but it doesn't really end there because God blesses you to bless others. You are blessed to be a blessing.
