III. THE DIVIDED HEART
I know you are ready to hear God's word today and I want you to take word and turn to Matthew Chapter 13 and we've been looking at God's lost and found department and today I want us to move into thinking about the strange mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.
Now if you are a part of the kingdom of heaven, you can understand the mysterious things about how the kingdom of heaven operates that people who are not saved cannot understand. Jesus came to a point in His ministry when He began to speak to His disciples in parables.
When He did this it was to reveal to them the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. At the same time, Jesus wanted to conceal from others the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.
Today we are going to look at the mystery of why sometimes preachers have crop failures. I mean we preach and nothing happens, we preach and there is no harvest, or we preach and somebody makes a decision but it doesn't last, or we preach and somebody makes a decision and yet it doesn't seem to change their life.
Or sometimes we preach and someone comes to Christ and their life is changed as the choir sang about a moment ago. Why is though that sometimes we preach and we seem to have no results?
Look in Verse 1 here in Matthew 13. Now you have heard of the Sermon on the Mount this is the Sermon by the Sea. "THE SAME DAY WENT JESUS OUT OF THE HOUSE, AND SAT BY THE SEA SIDE.
AND GREAT MULTITUDES WERE GATHERED TOGETHER UNTO HIM, SO THAT HE WENT INTO A SHIP, AND SAT; AND THE WHOLE MULTITUDE STOOD ON THE SHORE.
AND HE SPAKE MANY THINGS UNTO THEM IN PARABLES, SAYING, BEHOLD, A SOWER WENT FORTH TO SOW; (that is a farmer), AND WHEN HE SOWED, SOME SEEDS FELL BY THE WAY SIDE, AND THE FOWLS CAME AND DEVOURED THEM UP."
