Preparation for Revival
Ron Cox
Habakkuk 3:2
Habakkuk is praying for God' intervention during the chastisement of His people. Sounds a lot like what we need in our nation today.
Habakkuk 3:2 - O LORD, I have heard your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy.!"
There are two kinds of revival in the Bible:
1. Personal: Where we cry out to God to revive us personally.
2. Corporate: A revival of the supernatural work of God in our midst today.
When God's people are no longer experiencing the abundant life and joy of God, it's time to prepare for revival. To revive means to make alive again - God wants us to be a living and powerful church!
What would you say Revival really is?
Many would say…Revival is a Worship service. An evangelistic meeting. Special speakers and music.
WHAT IS REVIVAL? WD literally means… to sustain life, be restored to life or health; to cause to grow; restore. It is life!
Remember the excitement you had in your life when you first got saved or a time when you experienced God in a fresh and powerful way?
How do we know we need revival?
When the people of God are easily offended; easily gossip about others; compromise with and justify sin; act and talk just like the world, put sports over God's house…
WHAT IS REVIVAL AND HOW DO WE PREPARE FOR IT?
Psalms 85:6 -Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?"
READ - 2 Chron. 7 1-
WHAT DOES REVIVAL LOOK LIKE?
Fire from Heaven, Glory of God, Sacrifice, Worship????
3 Hindrance's for REVIVAL:
#1: SELF- (PRIDE - Don't need God, His Word, direction.
# 2 SATISFACTION - Don't need anything from God. Satisfied!
PRAYERLESSNESS- We think we don't need prayer!
#3: SIN- No confessed Sin.
We always think that revival is for someone else. We need to see our need!
