Introduction: The divine power of God shared by and active through Jesus has given us - has bestowed on us - everything we need for life and godliness. All that is needful for the believer to live the life that God intends is available in Christ. The first ticket we take and use is the divine provision exchange ticket. The free gift of the mighty grace of God is exchanged for my flawed and sinful life. Once I use my exchange ticket to move on to participating in spiritual growth, I now take the other tickets to life that Peter lays out for us, tickets that require decisions, disciplines, and determination. Peter says we can escape the corruption we face in the world by living in the power of a new nature, living in the power of the Holy Spirit, and learning to walk in this new life.
I. YOUR TICKET TO LIFE
A. DEFINITIONS
1. Ticket to Life: A special pass offered to you by Jesus to enter into specified places that requires someone to pay the costs of the ticket. The holder has faith to receive the tickets and enter.
2. Exchange Ticket: Enables us to give up one thing in order to receive something better - a radical spiritual exchange through regeneration, coupled with spiritual disciplines.
B. KEY VERSE
2 Peter 1:5, NET: For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith excellence…
1. Peter does not say that the Holy Spirit will add, but that you add to your life. Some Christians remain baby Christians their whole lives because they never add. The more you add, the more you grow. Faith is not the same size for every person. Faith grows.

a. To "make every effort" means to bring things into play through a persistent effort, over and above what is needed; to take the initiative.
