I.THE DEFNITION OF FAITH
II. THE DEMAND FOR FAITH
III. THE DYNAMIC OF FAITH
IV. THE DEVELOPMENT OF FAITH
I want you to take your Bible and turn to Hebrews Chapter 11, Hebrews Chapter 11 and I want to turn a side in the books for a few weeks and speak to you on the general thing of Opening the Windows of Heaven.
Today I want to speak on Opening the Windows of Heaven through faith. If there was just one lesson I could teach you, I think this would be the most important lesson that I could possibly teach.
Now look at Hebrews 11. We are going to begin in Verse 1. This is the lesson about faith. It says, "NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN. FOR BY IT THE ELDERS OBTAINED A GOOD REPORT.
THROUGH FAITH WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE WORLDS WERE FRAMED BY THE WORD OF GOD, SO THAT THINGS WHICH ARE SEEN WERE NOT MADE OF THINGS WHICH DO APPEAR.
BY FAITH ABEL OFFERED UNTO GOD A MORE EXCELLENT SACRIFICE THAN CAIN, BY WHICH HE OBTAINED WITNESS THAT HE WAS RIGHTEOUS, GOD TESTIFYING OF HIS GIFTS: AND BY IT HE BEING DEAD YET SPEAKETH.
BY FAITH ENOCH WAS TRANSLATED THAT HE SHOULD NOT SEE DEATH; AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TRANSLATED HIM: FOR BEFORE HIS TRANSLATION HE HAD THIS TESTIMONY, THAT HE PLEASED GOD.
BUT WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM: FOR HE THAT COMETH TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM."
Now as we think about all the religions of the world, most of what the religions of the world are about are man trying to please God. You go into pagan countries and you see a woman throwing her little baby into the river to the crocodiles as a sacrifice because she is trying to please God.
You see people bowing down before idols of stone and of wood and they are trying to please God. Here in America, we're more sophisticated than that. People will join a church ...
