Turn with me to James Chapter 3. I want to begin reading with Verse 1 of James Chapter 3. Now I will tell you as you are turning the Lord is alive at San Jacinto Baptist Church. Amen? That's a mighty, mighty way. Thank God for all He is doing for this packed house and for the visitors who are here and for what God is going to do in this service.
James Chapter 3 Verse 1. I'm speaking today on the subject, "The Meanest Member in our Church." Would anybody like to come forward and confess before I begin?
"MY BRETHREN, BE NOT MANY MASTERS, KNOWING THAT WE SHALL RECEIVE THE GREATER CONDEMNATION. FOR IN MANY THINGS WE OFFEND ALL. IF ANY MAN OFFEND NOT IN WORD, THE SAME IS A PERFECT MAN, AND ABLE ALSO TO BRIDLE THE WHOLE BODY.
BEHOLD, WE PUT BITS IN THE HORSES' MOUTHS, THAT THEY MAY OBEY US; AND WE TURN ABOUT THEIR WHOLE BODY. BEHOLD ALSO THE SHIPS, WHICH THOUGH THEY BE SO GREAT, AND ARE DRIVEN OF FIERCE WINDS, YET ARE THEY TURNED ABOUT WITH A VERY SMALL HELM, WHITHERSOEVER THE GOVERNOR LISTETH.
EVEN SO THE TONGUE IS A LITTLE MEMBER, AND BOASTETH GREAT THINGS. BEHOLD, HOW GREAT A MATTER A LITTLE FIRE KINDLETH! AND THE TONGUE IS A FIRE, A WORLD OF INIQUITY: SO IS THE TONGUE AMONG OUR MEMBERS, THAT IT DEFILETH THE WHOLE BODY, AND SETTETH ON FIRE THE COURSE OF NATURE; AND IT IS SET ON FIRE OF HELL"
The Meanest Member in our Church; I think you saw it in Verse 6, "For the Bibles says, " THAT AMONG THE MEMBERS, OF OUR BODY, THE TONGUE IS A WORLD OF INIQUITY." The tongue is the meanest member of our church; the tongue is the meanest member of our body. It has the most potential both for evil and for good.
