This morning I want to continue a series of messages I began two weeks ago on the Overcoming Life. I want you to turn to Proverbs, Chapter 18 and we are going to look at Verses 21 and 22.

The Overcoming Life - the Bible says that, "THAT THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD WILL MOUNT UP WITH WINGS AS EAGLES." That talks about overcoming; being above those things in life and in the next few weeks I'll be talking about overcoming problems, overcoming stress, overcoming difficulty.

The Bible says, "This is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith." And today I want to talk about Overcoming Barriers in marriage, overcoming the communication barrier.

Proverbs 18 and Verse 21 speaks about the importance of communication. I heard abut a fella who was riding on the bus and he noticed the man beside him had his wedding ring on his index finger and on his right hand. He said to him, "Fella, isn't that your wedding ring?" He said, "Yes it is."

He said, "Well, most people wear it on the left hand on this finger." He said, "Why do you have it on your index finger on the right hand? You have it on the wrong hand." He said, "Well, I married the wrong woman." Some people think they have married the wrong woman or they've married the wrong man.

But really the problem many times is the problem of communication. I believe it is the number one problem in marriage today. Many times we just do not communicate. Notice what God says about it.

He says, "DEATH AND LIFE ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE." Now that is a powerful statement, "That death and life are in the power of the tongue." The instrument of communication.

"AND THEY THAT LOVE IT SHALL EAT THE FRUIT THEREOF. WHO SO FINDETH A WIFE FINDETH A GOOD THING AND OBTAINS FAVOR OF THE LORD." Now men, you missed your chance to say amen. "WHO SO FINDETH A WIFE FINDETH A GOOD THING." Amen. You mis ...
