If you have your Bible this morning we are going to study from Proverbs Chapter 6. A wonderful book, a book about wisdom, Proverbs Chapter 6 and we are going to begin in Verse 16.
Tonight I'm going to be preaching about the controversy in the Southern Baptist Convention and I hope that you will be here. I'll be sharing with you a brief report about this year's convention, which I believe was one of the most wonderful conventions I've ever attended. I saw God's hand in a might way and I want to talk about that tonight.
We've been studying and talking about the overcoming life. I believe God wants us to be overcomers and I think the kind of church that is going to reach this city for Christ and the kind of Church those best exhibits the body of Christ is the overcoming church. God wants us to overcome.
We've talked about overcoming anger and overcoming fear and overcoming stress and the things in life that we have to face every day and today I want to talk to you about overcoming pride. Overcoming pride, one of the greatest enemies to your spiritual life is this thing called pride.
Look at what he says in Verse 16, ''THESE SIX THINGS DOTH THE LORD HATE: YEA, SEVEN ARE AN ABOMINATION UNTO HIM: A PROUD LOOK, A LYING TONGUE, AND HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD,
A HEART THAT DEVISETH WICKED IMAGINATIONS, FEET THAT BE SWIFT IN RUNNING TO MISCHIEF, A FALSE WITNESS THAT SPEAKETH LIES, AND HE THAT SOWETH DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN.''
