Finding God in the Church Budget

INTRODUCTION: A mother and her 3-year-old daughter were riding in a car when suddenly the little girl put her head on her mother's chest and began to listen. "What are you doing?" mom asked. "I'm listening for Jesus in your heart," was the reply. "Well, what do you hear?" The innocent child looked up with a satisfied look of discovery in her eyes and said, "Sounds like He's making coffee to me!"
Of course, God doesn't just live inside of you, God is everywhere. This is what we mean when we say that God is omnipresent.
Psalm 139:7-10 "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."
One place that some people MIGHT have a hard time finding God is in the Church budget. We're going to have our annual congregational meeting today at which time we will vote to approve the Church budget. That sounds so mundane, so ordinary, so BORING. But I'm here to tell you today that God IS in the Church budget. I want us to see that in three ways this morning but before I do, I have a disclaimer.
THE DISCLAIMER
Philippians 2:10-13 "I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
