2 Peter 3:1-18
The Bible opens with the words. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Towards the end, it states that in the end God will make "a new heaven and a new earth."
I. In the Beginning. Genesis 1:1
A. Before "in the beginning."
1. There was not "nothing," there was "something."
2. The "something" that was before the beginning was capable of.
a. Thought. 2 Timothy 1:9
b. Will. Ephesians 1:4
c. Love. John 17:24
B. At the Beginning.
1. The "something" was "Someone" who chose to create in love.
2. That which was created by Him was created for Him. Romans 11:36
II. In the End. 2 Peter 3:10

Part 4: Whose Celebration Is It Anyway?

Isaiah 9:1-7
When Isaiah talked about the coming of Messiah to the people living under threat of impending calamity, many of them ignored his message. But those who paid attention "saw a great light" and they celebrated before the Lord. Nothing has changed since Isaiah's day!
I. People Who Live in Darkness.
A. Causing the darkness.
1. God's children have rebelled. 1:2-3
2. God's worship has become empty ritual. 1:11f
3. God's offer has been ignored. 1:18f
4. God's grace has been despised. 5:1f
5. God's warnings have been disregarded. 8:6f
B. Cursing the darkness.
1. Darkness that come from imagining conspiracies. 8:12
2. Darkness that results from rejecting the light. 8:18 20
3. Darkness that curses God in heaven and sees no hope on earth. 8:21
C. Countering the darkness.
1. Yielding to the strong hand of God. 8:11
