Psalm 116
The wise men brought their gifts to the infant Jesus (Matthew 2:11) and now, every Christmas, gifts are given and received as expressions of gratitude and affection. This is a good time to ask the Psalmist’s question, “How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness to me?”
I. The Desire to Give a Gift.
A. A desire born of love—“I love the Lord.” v. 1
1. Because He was attentive to my prayers—“He heard my voice.”
a. A Plea for mercy.
b. An ear turned in my direction.
2. Because He intervened in my affairs—“He saved me.”
a. My life was full of death’s entanglements. v. 3
b. My life was anguished by “Sheol”—literally, “my life was hell.”
c. My life was submerged by trouble and sorrow.
B. A desire prompted by appreciation—“The Lord is gracious and righteous.” v. 5
1. I recognize who He is, not only what He does. He is:

Part 6: The Last Days

The only thing we know about the third millennium is that it is part of the "last days!" Let's see what to expect and how to approach the unknown.
I. What Does the Bible Say About "The Last Days"?
A. Scripture talks about "Last Days," "Last Day," "Day of the Lord," or "The Day."
B. "The Day" brings final judgment for God's enemies, blessings for His people.
1. Peter: "the great and glorious day of the Lord." Acts 2:20
2. Joel: "the great and dreadful day of the Lord." Joel 2:31
C. The "Last Days" are a present reality:
1. They were predicted by the prophets. Isaiah 2:2 5
2. They were inaugurated by Jesus. Hebrews 1:1 2
3. The were confirmed by the Apostles. Acts 2:16ff; 2 Peter 3:3
D. The "Last Days" present a warning and a challenge.
