“Responsibility” comes from “response” as “answerable” comes from “answer.” Jesus told the crowd who listened to Him that they were responsible for their responses. So are we.

A. Jesus “proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.”
1. Christ born to establish. 1:33
2. Reserved for the childlike. 18:17
3. For earnest seekers. 12:31
4. Conferred by grace. 22:29
5. With future dimensions and present reality. 17:21
B. Disciples portraying the kingdom.
1. The twelve who had responded to His call.
2. The women who had devoted themselves to His cause.

A. A hostile question by a biblical expert-a genuine quest by a troubled soul?
1. How does a person inherit eternal life? Daniel 12:2
2. The life of the coming kingdom.
3. The life that avoids everlasting shame
4. The life that triumphs over "sleep in the dust of the earth."
B. A standard response and a standard reply.
1. What does the Law say and how do you understand it? v. 26
2. "Love the Lord your God…Love your neighbor as yourself." v. 27
a. Relate to God with the heart, the innermost center of your being.
b. Relate to God with your soul, the life force that energizes.
c. Relate to God with your strength, energetic physical action.
d. Relate to God with your mind, in your thinking, planning.
