Matthew 1:18-25
The angel announcing the birth of Christ explained that He would be known both as "Immanuel-God with us" and also "Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins." Enjoying Christmas involves grasping what this means.
I. The Human Dilemma-Sin from Which We Need to Be Saved.

Moses asked if he could see God's glory, but he was told nobody can see God and sur-vive. But God wants to be known so He came "veiled in flesh" so that we could come to know Him and not be burned up by the experience.
I. Revelation-"The Word Became Flesh and Lived for a While Among Us."
A. The identity of the Word. vv. 1-2
1. His unique title-"the Word."
a. Greek: The word unspoken-hidden idea, reason.
b. Greek: The word spoken-the idea made known.
c. Hebrew: related to wisdom. See Proverbs 8
2. His eternal existence-"in the beginning was…"
3. His intimate fellowship-"was with God."
4. His divine nature-"the Word was God."
B. The activity of the Word. vv. 3 5
1. The agent of creation-"through Him all things were made."
2. The dispenser of life-"in Him was life."
3. The communicator of reality-"the light of men."
