John Yeats, the British poet said, "Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success." Human history is full of examples of the accuracy of this observation, but it doesn't always work out that way. When Jesus met Simon Peter-a promising failure-face to face, wonderful things happened.

Part 2: With a Genuine Skeptic

Those who think, doubt. This is good because healthy doubt is an antidote to the germs of error and the dangers of lies. But unrelieved skepticism leads to the paralysis of cynicism. It's inconsistent too! Even the man who believes in nothing looks for a woman to believe in him. Jesus met a genuine skeptic one day.
I. A Skeptical Response to a Personal Testimony. vv. 43 45
A. A simple testimony.
1. A testimony of discipleship. v. 43
a. The call- "Follow."
b. The conviction- "Found."
2. A testimony of discovery. v. 45
a. The relevance of the Scriptures.
