Part 4: God's Plan for Reconciliation
Series: God Has A Plan-And We're Part Of It
Stuart Briscoe
Ephesians 2:11-22

The feelings of alienation that get so much publicity in our society are as old as humanity. They have their origins in humanity's alienation from God but manifest themselves in fractured relationships across the board. God has a plan to address it.

I. Alienation. vv. 11-12

A. The chronic alienation of Jew and Gentile.
1. Jewish contempt for Gentiles-"called uncircumcision."

2. Gentile hostility towards Jews.

B. The historic roots of this alienation.
1. God had chosen the Jews.

2. Called to be "holy unto the Lord" and to be a blessing to all nations.

3. They had settled for isolation and superior attitudes. (e.g. Temple.)

C. The spiritual results of this alienation.
1. "Separated from Christ"-compare "in Christ."

2. "Excluded from Israel."

3. "Foreigners to the covenants of promise."
