Ephesians 6:1-9
A major part of life is spent in the family and at work. Relationships in these envi-ronments are critically important. Societal change has taken place since Ephesians was written, but the spiritual principles for societal living outlined are still relevant.
I. God's Plan for Relationships in the Home. vv. 1 4
A. The instructions for children. vv. 1 3
1. Children are to obey parents because it is "right."
a. Those who are old enough to have made a Christian commitment.
b. Those who are young enough to be "brought up."
c. Those who are mature enough to know "right" from "wrong."
2. Children are to obey parents because they are "in the Lord."
3. Children are to obey parents because the Law requires it.
a. Obedience is one way to "honor your parents."
b. Honoring parents has practical as well as spiritual ramifications.

Part 12: God's Plan for Victory

Ephesians 6:10-24
Christians who seek to live lives worthy of their high calling are aware that they are involved in a struggle. They need to be clear about the unique nature of the struggle and the way in which God plans for them to stand firm against the enemy and to win the victory.
I. In the Spiritual Struggle, Christians Need to Know Their Adversary.
A. The enemy is not "flesh and blood." (Note: Paul is "in chains.") v. 12
B. The enemy is the "devil…the evil one." vv. 11, 16
1. The devil whom Christ confronted in the wilderness. Luke 4:2
2. The devil whom Christ defeated on the cross. Hebrews 2:14-15
3. The devil who prowls like a lion looking to devour. 1 Peter 5:8-9
4. The devil whose strategies are crafty and cunning. v. 11
5. The devil who grasps any opening the believer gives him. 4:27
C. The enemy, the devil, has "spiritual forces of evil" available to him. v. 12
