When Christ commissioned His disciples He made it clear that preaching "repentance and forgiveness of sins" (Luke 24:47) was a major part of their task. What this means and how it is to be accomplished demand our attention.

I. Forgiveness Requires Recognizing.

"You have not yet considered the heavy weight sin is." (Anselm)

A. Consider sin in principle.
1. Humanity's constitution.
a. Created to depend.

b. Created to delight.

c. Created to discover.

2. Humanity's contradiction.
a. Refusing fellowship with God.

b. Rejecting ownership by God.

c. Rebelling against stewardship for God.

The emphasis on food, fashion and fitness in our modern society shows that we are very interested in our bodies. But we are not always aware that we will have bodies after death. What this means should be of great interest to all concerned.
