Proverbs 16-17
The Bible does not debate God's existence or argue about His nature. It simply reveals them. It treats man in a similar way and goes on to show the relationship between God and man. Nothing could be more important than an understanding of this subject.
I. Man's Recognition of God's Majesty.
A. The majesty of His eternal person.
1. "El"-the ancient name for God.
2. "Jehovah"-the God of Israel.
3. "Adonai"-the One Who has authority.
B. The majesty of His eternal purpose. v. 4
1. He is the Originator of all things.
2. Some things are not as He originated them.
3. He will use all things to bring about His purposes.
C. The majesty of His eternal principles.

Words are the chief media of human communications. They can be used to hurt or heal, to harm or help and accordingly must be used with great care and discernment.
I. The Importance of Words.
A. God's unique method of self-revelation.
1. The spoken word. Genesis 1, "God said…"
2. The written word. 19:16
3. The living Word. John 1:1; 6:63
B. Man's unique method of societal communication.
1. Words as deep waters. v. 4a
2. Wells of divine wisdom. v. 4b
C. Man's unique method of spiritual application.
1. Take with you words. Hosea 14:2
2. Make sure they have meaning. Malachi 2:17
