Jerusalem, the ancient city of Zion, has been the center of man's attention for thousands of years. In addition to her great historical, archaeological, and political importance she has great spiritual significance as a "type" of the Church.
I. The Place of Delight. vv. 1-2
A. The place of God's presence.
B. The place of God's praise.
C. The place of God's pre-eminence.
D. The place of God's purposes.
II. The Place of Defense. vv. 3-7
A. The place where God's strength is known.
B. The place where God's superiority is shown.
1. By controlling her enemies.

Part 22: All Men Are Equal

Psalm 49
Despite obvious social, economic and intellectual inequalities, men are fundamentally equal. Concentration on the areas of equality is necessary for spiritual development.
I. All Men Are Equal Before God. vv. 1-5
A. As residents of God's world. vv. 1-2
Low, high, rich and poor are together.
B. As recipients of God's Word. vv. 3-4
Wisdom, understanding, parables, and dark sayings are for all.
C. As resisters of God's will. v. 5
Iniquity catches up with everyone eventually.
II. All Men Are Equal in the Grave. vv. 6-20
A. The frailty of man. vv. 6-11
1. His wealth cannot rescue him.
