1 Samuel 27:1-12
The New Testament has much to say about the conscience (e.g. Romans 2:15; Hebrews 10:22; 1 Peter 3:16, 22), but the Old Testament does not use the word. Nevertheless, it is clear that David had a conscience, which sometimes he heeded, and other times he chloroformed.
I. Multiple Marriage-A Matter of Conscience and Consensus.

2 Samuel 1:17-27
After Saul's death, David's fortunes took a dramatic turn for the better. Nevertheless, he still faced turbulent times and frightful feuds, but in the midst of it all he demonstrated an unusual capacity for love.
I. Love for the Lord. Psalm 18:1; 116:1-19
NB. Love the Lord with heart, soul, strength. Deuteronomy 6:5
A. Heart love is to discern.
1. Discerning the nature of the Lord. Psalm 116:5
2. Discerning the actions of the Lord. Psalm 18:16-19
B. Soul love is to desire.
1. Desire stimulated by appreciation. Psalm 116:12
2. Desire demonstrated by action.
C. Strength love is to decide.
1. Decision to trust. Psalm 116:2
2. Decision to obey.
