David's remarkable care for the lame Mephibosheth was not only related to his love for Jonathan but also had its roots in his appreciation of God's kindness to him. This stimu-lated him to acts of kindness.

I. An Explanation of God's Kindness.

Note: Heb. "hesed" tr. loving kindness, kindness, mercy, love, etc.

The story of David and Bathsheba is almost as well known as the account of David's conflict with Goliath. Unfortunately the former is the story of his greatest failure, the latter of his greatest victory. But Scripture is honest about failure in order that we might learn how to deal with it ourselves.
