"I believe in…Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord…" Belief in Jesus is comforting. Belief in Christ is enlightening. But belief in the Lord is demanding.
I. The Definition of Lordship.
A. He is Supreme in His person.
1. Lord (Gk. "Kurios") in N.T. and LXX translates Jehovah, Adon. See Romans 10:13; Joel 2:32
2. Christ accepted worship as Lord. John 20:28
3. Christ claimed to be Lord. John 13:13
4. Church has preached Him as Lord. Acts 2:36
5. Christians look for His ultimate triumph. Hebrews 1:10-13
B. He is Superb in His position.
Note: "Kurios" had rich meaning in common usage, which applies
to Christ.
1. "Kurios" means owner (Luke 19:33), but see 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.
2. "Kurios" means Master (Mark 13:34-35), but see Matthew 6:24.

Part 6: The Incarnation

Incarnation means "endowment with a body," and in the case of Christ, relates to what John calls "the Word became flesh."
I. The Doctrine of the Incarnation.
A. The mechanics of it.
1. The prophecy of Isaiah. Isaiah 7:14
2. The predictions of Gabriel. Matthew 1:18-24; Luke 1:26-38
3. The preparedness of Mary and Joseph.
4. The participation of the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:35
B. The meaning of it.
God was reconciling the world to Himself. 2 Corinthians 5:19
1. The projection of Himself in Christ. John 1:14
2. The preaching of the Gospel by Christ. Luke 4:16-21
