Coming up on 28 years ago, Jesus Christ came into my life and has changed me. My kids don't know the old Lenny that had a bad temper, would drink and get drunk, take drugs, play rock music and contribute to the degradation of society. 28 years ago, God delivered me out of bondage and into freedom. He has set me free and delivered me from so much. He set my feet on a firm foundation that can never be moved. Jesus is now my Lord and I don't ever want to go back there. Like the old song says, "I never want to go back to my old life.." There really is no life there. I have come out of the world, came through the cross, I repented, turned to Jesus, and now I am living for Him.
RELATIONSHIP NOT RELIGION
I am not talking about me joining a new religion 28 years ago. I am talking about the person of Jesus Christ. The point I was trying to get across last week is that Christianity is not a religion. It is all about a relationship with a PERSON. That PERSON is JESUS CHRIST. Don't talk to me about following certain rules and codes of conduct, and styles of clothes. Don't talk to me about what your church practices. Don't even talk to me about your doctrine, until you first talk to me about JESUS. I said JESUS. He is the ONE that this life is all about.
1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
It is not necessarily lifestyle only that distinguishes us from the world, it is the cross that separates us from the world. Lifestyle will follow. A church that preaches lifestyle and not the cross is "Check the Box" Christianity. Let me explain. If every Sunday I am hearing don't c ...
