Ephesians 1:13-14
I. HEAR AND COMPREHEND THE GOSPEL
II. BELIEVE AND TRUST
III. SEALED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD
Ephesians Chapter 1 Verses 13 and 14, I want to speak today from the subject Signed, Sealed, and Delivered. This is the second message from the book of Ephesians. Last week we talked about the riches of the redeemed, the riches of adoption, the riches of redemption and the riches of forgiveness.
We learned that salvation was planned by the Father, provided by the Son, and pledged by the Spirit. Now we are going to read two verses that tell us that if you have been saved by the grace of God, you've been signed, you've been sealed, and you've been delivered.
In Ephesians Chapter 1 and Verse 13 Paul had been talking about Jesus and he says, "IN WHOM YE ALSO TRUSTED, AFTER THAT YE HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION: IN WHOM ALSO AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE,
WHICH IS THE EARNEST OF OUR INHERITANCE UNTIL THE REDEMPTION OF THE PURCHASED POSSESSION, UNTO THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORY."
You know I thank God today that the Bible teaches that a Christian is one who has been signed, sealed, and delivered. I think we have too many Christians who have question marks where they ought to have exclamation points.
We have too many doubting Baptists and not enough shouting Baptists. We have too many people when I ask them to raise their hands if they know they are saved, they don't really know for sure that Christ is in their life and that they are saved by the grace of God.
The Bible teaches that a Christian has been signed, sealed, and delivered. And if somehow the Holy Spirit of God could just show you the truth of these two verses, you would never have to doubt the fact that you are saved again.
