The message is entitled, Foundation for the Family, Ephesians, Chapter 5. In just a moment, we are going to begin reading with verse 23. Ephesians Chapter 5, Foundation for the Family. We are taught in the word of God that the home and the family is probably the most important factor in the structure of a life of a nation.
The same enemy that can sink the ship of home can sink the ship of states and long before there were governments and politics, long before there were colleges and universities, long before there were churches even there was a home.
God regards the home with the highest of consideration and when the Lord Jesus Christ came to this earth, He had much to say about the home. His first mighty miracle was performed in a home. He sanctified the home. He magnified the home. He elevated the home.
He taught in the home. He preached in the home. The first churches in the New Testament were not in beautiful, lovely buildings like this but they were in the homes of the people of that day. The church literally began in the home.
The home is the most important of all of our institutions in society and our Lord Jesus Christ is the great home builder. Jesus built the first home in the Garden of Eden. Jesus will build the last home in glory for us.
Now folks, Jesus wants you to have three homes. Number one, the home of your residence, your family home. Number two, the home of your faith, your church home. Number three, the home of your future, your heavenly home. Christ is interested in the home and in the way to God He laid the foundation for the family.
C.H. Spurgeon, a great preacher of yesteryear, said that when a home is built upon the foundation of the word of God that angels could be present and not feel out of their element.
