The things of God are a mystery to mankind. This means that we are seriously deficient in our understanding of God, His purposes and his plans. But God has taken steps to give us spiritual discernment so that the mystery may become clear.

I. The Possibilities of Spiritual Discernment.
A. Grasping the things God has prepared. v. 9

1. For them that love Him. Romans 8:28
a. He has prepared salvation. Luke 2:31
b. He has prepared a kingdom. Matthew 25:34

c. He has prepared a position. Matthew 20:23

2. For them that resist Him.
a. He has prepared punishment. Matthew 25:41-46

B. Gaining the things God has provided. v. 12
1. The protection He freely gives. Romans 8:32
2. The privileges He freely gives. Philippians 1:29

Part 8: Childlike vs. Childish

The carnal person believes like a spiritual person and acts like a natural person. He is a mature man who behaves like a big baby. Being a baby is fine for babies but a disaster for adults. There's a difference between being childlike and childish.

I. The Beauty of Childlikeness.

1. Humility.

3. Transparency.

B. As an indication of the way to grown. 2 Timothy 3:14-17
1. Child.

2. Man.

3. Mature.

4. Equipped.

II. The Tragedy of Childishness.
