Ministers of the Gospel have a unique position to fill. The details of this are not always clear to either minister or congregation. This is a dangerous situation and can lead to great conflict as it did in Corinth.
I. The Privileges of the Ministry. v. 1

1. One who applies Christ's orders. Matthew 5:25
2. One who assists Christ's actions. Luke 4:20
3. One who administers Christ's affairs. Acts 13:5
B. Stewards of mysteries.

Managing the mystery of:
1. Divine truth. Matthew 13:11
2. Divine purpose. Romans 16:25
3. Divine promise. 1 Corinthians 15:51

Part 14: Spiritual Pride

God has let it be known that he "resists the proud…" (1 Peter 5:5). He has told us that "pride comes before destruction…" (Proverbs 16:18). This was another of the Corinthian problems. They were "puffed up" with the worst kind of pride-spiritual pride.
I. How Spiritual Pride Can Be Expressed.
A. Through "superiority complex." v. 6
1. One against the other in comparison.
2. One against the other in hostility.
B. Through "self-confidence." v. 18
1. We are independent of leadership.
2. Leadership is in awe of us.
C. Through "special considerations." 5:2
1. Principles don't apply to us.
2. We don't need discipline.
