1 Corinthians 16:13-20

A. Be alert to the Return of Christ. Matthew 24:42
B. Be alert to the resourcefulness of Satan. 1 Peter 5:8

Part 56: Maranatha
Series: Getting Things Straight
Stuart Briscoe
1 Corinthians 16:21-24
In the final passage of 1 Corinthians it is interesting to note that three non-English words have survived the transition. Each is important. "Maranatha" is Aramaic, "Anathema" is Greek and "Amen" is Hebrew.

Note: "Mar" = "Lord", "an" = "our", "atha" = "come, has come, will
come."

1. Jesus came as Lord. ("Mar" shows primitive teaching.)
2. Jesus came as Christ. See 1 John 4:2
3. Jesus should be loved for coming. v. 22
B. A confession of Identification…"our Lord is present."
1. Present as President of the Church.
