In the same way that navigators constantly check their compass to make sure they are still on course, the church needs constant reminders of her mission to ensure she is following that set by her Lord. Another look at the Great Commission is in order.

I. All Authority Has Been Given to Christ. v. 18
A. The scope of this authority.
1. In heaven.
a. All heaven's resources are His.

b. All heaven is controlled by Him.

2. On earth.
a. Authority to forgive sins.

b. Authority over death and hell.

c. Authority over satanic forces.

d. Authority over nature.

B. The significance of this authority.
1. The assurance it brings to the church.

2. The challenge it presents to the Christian.
