Hebrews 11:8-19

I. The Obedience of Faith.

Obedience is not only an external evidence of faith (Hebrews 11:8) but also an integral part of faith (Romans 16:26).

A. The call to obedience. v. 8
God speaks with the voice of authority (calls) and desires, deserves and demands obedience.

B. The challenge of obedience.

Action was expected despite:

1. The lack of evidence-"not knowing."

2. The lack of support-"get thee out." Genesis 12:1

3. The lack of comfort-"living in tents."

C. The crisis of obedience.
1. Spiritual demand.

2. Volitional decision.

3. Physical departure.

Hebrews 11:17-20

Jehovah, the God of Abraham and Isaac, revealed Himself to them in His names and titles! Jehovah Jireh means "the God who provides" (Genesis 22:14)!

I. He Is the God Who Provides LIFE.

A. The miracle of life. Genesis 18:10
B. The meaning of life. Hebrews 11:17 (the promises)

II. He Is the God Who Provided a LAMB. Genesis 22:8

A. The burnt offering (Genesis 22:2) made an atonement.
B. The lamb was a substitute. Genesis 22:13
C. Christ is the Lamb whom God provided. John 1:29

III. He Is the God Who Provides LIBERTY.

A. His bonds were loosened. Genesis 22:9
B. He rose in newness of life. Hebrews 11:19
C. He returned in testimony of his deliverance. Genesis 22:5

IV. He Is the God Who Provide LOVE.

A. His filial love. Genesis 22:9
