Psalm 51
David, "the man after God's own heart", who "served his generation by the will of God" knew what it was to fall into the hands of the forces of evil from which only God can deliver. He, like everyone else, needed a personal revival.
The steps were quite simple.
I. Repentance.
A. The sin conceived. 2 Samuel 11
1. Laziness. v. 1
2. Wantonness. vv. 2-3
3. Selfishness. v. 4
4. Deceitfulness. vv. 5-17
B. The sin concealed.
1. By false piety. v. 25
2. By pseudo-respectability. v. 27
