Introduction:

As we celebrate such holidays as Memorial Day, and Independence Day, it causes me to remember that God Almighty has blessed our country! We live in the greatest country in all the world. We have more financial blessings than any other nation. We have more food than any other nation. We have more churches than any other nation. We have more Bibles than any other nation. Why has God blessed our nation? I believe that God has blessed our nation because our forefathers and patriots stood for God and country. The pilgrims came to America to escape religious persecution. They wanted to be able to worship God freely without the state or government stepping in and telling them what to do. Their chief objective according to the Mayflower Compact was to be able to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all those in whom they came into contact. Listen to these words from their pledge

In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, defender of the Faith, etc.
Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents, solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God
We also know that the framers of the Declaration of Independence looked to God for their help when they were declaring their independence from Great Britain. Listen to these words
