I. Who Is the Holy Spirit?

A. The mystery of the Trinity.
B. The mastery of the Father.
C. The majesty of the Son.
D. The ministry of the Spirit.

II. What Does the Holy Spirit Do?

S-He seals. Ephesians 1:13
1. To hear.
2. To believe.
3. To mark as a possession. Ephesians 4:30

P-He promotes. John 16:7-15
1. He promotes reality in life.
2. He promotes growth in knowledge.

Part 2: What Is Involved in Church Life?

When Paul wrote to Timothy he wanted, among other things to outline to him "How people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God" (1 Timothy 3:15). What he had to say is extremely relevant today.

I. Christian Perception of the Church.

A. The church is God's family. v. 15
1. It enjoys His life.
2. It bears His name.
3. It projects His image.

B. The church is God's army.
1. It acknowledges His commands. 1:1, 3, 5
2. It identifies with His cause.
3. It fights in His battles. 1:18; 6:12

C. The church is God's academy.
1. The pillar and foundation of truth. 3:15
2. The protector and preserver of truth. 1:3; 6:3-5
3. The teacher and promoter of truth. 4:11-16

D. The church is God's community.
1. The community of the redeemed. 1:15
