In the midst of Christmas activity, it is appropriate that we spend some time in reflection and contemplation on what lies behind the celebration. Among other things Christ said He came in order that we might have life to the full.

A. Modern man's dissatisfaction with dissatisfaction.
1. A longing for belonging-resenting loneliness.
2. A sense of significance-resenting abuse.
3. An expectation of fullness-resenting deprivation.
B. Modern man's quest for meaning.
1. Who am I? A search for identity.
a. A number?
b. A naked ape?
2. Why am I? A search for meaning.
a. An accident?
b. A coincidence?
3. Where am I? A search for integration.
a. Do I belong?
b. Do I matter?
C. Modern man's suggested solutions.
1. Nihilism-God is dead, life is absurd.
a. Is God dead in Milwaukee?

When Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate, He told him that He "came into the world, to testify to the truth." Pilate's response was, "What is truth?" But he didn't wait for an answer. Let's make sure we do.
I. Truth and Confusion.

2. The family of lies.
a. Resisters of truth. Romans 1:18
b. Perverters of truth. Romans 1:25
B. The characteristics of confusion.
1. Confusion about deity. Genesis 3:1-4

II. Truth and Conviction.
"Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." John 18:37
A. Listen to me about deity.
1. "You're right, I am a king." v. 37
2. "My kingdom is from another place." v. 36
