Ephesians 5:8-20
When Peter was awakened by the angel in prison, he woke to a new life. Paul says believers have a similar experience-it's like "rising from the dead." But this new life requires care-it takes a lot of wisdom.

A. His purposes are eternal.

B. His purposes center in Christ.

C. His purposes include individuals.

2. "He chose us in Him." 1:4
II. Understand that God's Will Is Personal.
A. God's will and "good works."
1. Not saved by them. 2:8-9

Part 2: Be Wise About the Word of God (2 of 4)
Series: Be Wise
Stuart Briscoe
Colossians 3:16
It is a well-established fact among believers that "man cannot live by bread alone" but that the Word "from the mouth of God" is vitally necessary. (Matthew 4:4) However, it is equally well established that many believers have inadequate appetites for and diets of the Word of God.
I. Appreciating God's Word.
A. Because of its mystery.
1. Hidden for ages. 1:26
2. Now disclosed.
3. Namely, Christ. 2:2
B. Because of its message.
1. Christ in you. 1:27
a. In Him "all treasures." 2:3
b. In Him "glorious riches." 1:27
2. Hope of glory. 1:27
a. You will appear with Him in glory. 3:4
b. Indwelling Christ the guarantee.
c. A message for here and hereafter.
II. Approaching God's Word.
A. With a view to perfection. 1:28
1. The ultimate presentation.
