FORMING AND LEADING LEADERSHIP TEAMS

Forming And Leading Leadership Teams
Frank Damazio

Introduction: The forming and leading of the leadership team is a vitally important aspect to growing a healthy church. In this set of notes, we will define the team and also the lead person who forms the teams. Churches are more effective when team leaders share leadership responsibilities with a specified key leader. Quality contributions and better decisions emerge from this mutual commitment to collaborative analysis and team building. Teams release more creative thinking, problem solving, wise decision making and make room for more leader's involvement.

It is not biblical to think of ministry alone. The New Testament is the history of men and women working side by side in ministry. Committees discuss, teams do. Committees advise; teams accomplish. For vision to become reality, the team factor must be reality. A team is necessary for spiritual success. My basic presupposition is simple: a healthy leadership team is a prerequisite to a healthy growing church.

A. THE HEALTHY TEAM FACTORS

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1 Corinthians 1:10 But I urge and entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in perfect harmony and full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions or factions or divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions and judgments. (Amplified)

1 Corinthians 1:10 I beg you, my brothers, by all that our Lord Jesus Christ means to you, to speak with one voice, and not allow yourselves to be split up into parties. All together you should be achieving a unity in thought and judgment. (J.B. Phillips)
