LEADERS WHO THRIVE: THOSE WHO FLOURISH AND ADVANCE IN LIFE AND MINISTRY
Leaders Who Thrive: Those Who Flourish And Advance In Life And Ministry
Frank Damazio
Introduction: The church growing spiritually and numerically is a by-product of a right relationship with the Lord of the church. Church health and spiritual depth cannot be measured by methods, models, programs, marketing strategies, or organizational structure, but by its relationship with the Lord Jesus. Likewise, a healthy church necessitates spiritually healthy leadership. A freshness of spirit and soul can be cultivated and, if necessary, restored to the life of a leader. The first person you lead is you!
THRIVE - To flourish, grow vigorously, to gain in wealth and possessions, prosper, to progress toward or realize a goal despite, or because of circumstance. To thrive is to have newness of spirit, vigor, and newness of strength, as opposed to weariness or fatigue. It is to be flourishing, prospering, blooming, advancing, progressing, increasing, to be successful, pulsating - THRIVE.
I. LEADERS WHO NEED A RE-THRIVING
A. LEADERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING A DRY SOUL SEASON
1. Ezekiel 17:9-10 "Say, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Will it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots, cut off its fruit, and leave it to wither? All of its spring leaves will wither, and no great power or many people will be needed to pluck it up by its roots. Behold, it is planted, will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the garden terrace where it grew." ' "
2. Drought: A continuous dry wind that blows rain clouds away, scorching the ground, leaving it dry, thirsty and rainless. A restraint of refreshing rain for too long of a period. An extended time of dryness and heat of summer.
3. When a region has had a long drought, the ground becomes so hardened that it takes several rains to first soften the ground and then penetrate the ground. The ground then absorbs and becomes softened, fertile and ready for seed and productivity.
