Supernatural Requirements For Spiritual Leadership

INTRODUCTION: Spiritual leadership has some similarities with business leaders, political leaders, military leaders, educational leaders, and leaders of social causes in that all leaders must have certain basic skills: people and management skills, understand budgets and the bottom line, forge mission statements for their corporation, communicate clear values, and build a great team to help fulfill the vision. These are very similar in both the spiritual world and the secular world, except for one non-negotiable. The leader who leads God's people to fulfill God's cause and God's vision must have a spiritual connection to God and a spiritual flow within them that lasts a lifetime.
We are first of all spiritual leaders. First, we must have the God-part, the God encounter; then, we develop leadership skills that help us in our calling. We cannot fulfill our God-calling without a supernatural beginning and a supernatural continuance. It's not about our mental strength, cleverness or skill in using all learned leadership skills available. We are spiritual leaders ministering to spiritual people. We must be anointed by the Holy Spirit, fresh, powerfully and continually.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
Isaiah 6:8-9 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." And He said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.'"
