Exodus 20:15
George Gallup, Jr. said, "It is ironic that while religion in America is growing in popularity, morality is declining." The Wall Street Journal reported that a poll showed no difference in attitudes between "churched" and "unchurched" with regard to cheating on expense accounts and tax reporting.
I. The Shapes and Sizes of Stealing.
A. Stealing from humans.
1. Depriving a person of property is stealing.
a. Property as necessity. 1 Timothy 6:6-8; Deuteronomy 24:6-13
b. Property as a right. Exodus 20:17
c. Property as a trust. Psalm 24:1
2. Depriving a person of liberty is stealing.
a. Persons as God's servants. Leviticus 25:55

Part 10: Speaking the Truth

Exodus 20:16
Our judicial system requires witnesses to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Failure to do so is called perjury, which is a crime bearing severe penalties. God, who is far more committed to truth than man, expects us to tell the truth, too.
I. God's Prohibition Against Lying.
A. The struggle of God against the devil. John 8:24-47
1. The father of righteousness.
2. The father of lies.
B. The struggle of good against evil.
1. God's creation-"good." Genesis 1
2. Devil's commitment-"destruction." John 10:10
C. The struggle of truth against delusion. 2 Corinthians 4:4-6
1. The blinding of delusion.
2. The eye-opening of truth.
D. The struggle of righteousness against sin.

The tenth commandment differs from the other nine in that they deal specifically with actions, while it deals with an attitude-covetousness. But it is clear that actions originate with attitudes. See Genesis 3:6 and 1 Timothy 6:10
I. What Does Covetousness Mean?
A. God-given desires.
1. The desire to acquire.
2. The desire to succeed.
3. The desire to produce.
B. God-given delights.
1. The delights of creation. Genesis 2:9
