The English word "Lord," which translates various Hebrew and Greek words, appears more than 7,500 times in Scripture. Usually, it refers to the Father or the Son and, accordingly, holds a position of great importance in the believer's understanding of spiritual experience.
I. The Revelation of Christ as Lord.
A. Christ as "Kyrios."
1. The one who exercises legitimate power.
2. Legitimacy without power is futility.
3. Power without legitimacy is anarchy.

Part 4: Knowing Christ as Teacher

Both Jews and Greeks recognized the importance of teaching and accordingly treated their teachers with great respect. Titles such as "Rabbi" and "Didaskalos" were conferred only on those thought to have earned such honor. It is interesting to note that Christ was called by both titles.
I. The Revelation of Christ as Teacher.
A. Christ teaching through exposition.
1. Teaching derived from the law of Moses. Matthew 23:2-3
2. Teaching relayed from the heart of the Father. John 7:16
3. Teaching applied to the lives of the hearers. Matthew 7:29
B. Christ teaching through example.

We have studied Christ in the aspects of His person and ministry with which we are most familiar. But there is one aspect that is often overlooked. Namely that in Christ "we have such a High Priest who is seated on the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens" (Hebrews 8:1).
I. The Revelation of Christ as High Priest.
A. The suitability of Christ as High Priest.
1. Like unto His brethren. 2:16-18
2. Tempted like as we are. 4:15
3. Glorified not Himself. 5:5, 10
4. Holy, harmless, undefiled. 7:26
B. The supremacy of Christ as High Priest.
1. A better understanding of sin. 2:10
2. A better sacrifice for sin. 7:27
