THE YOUTH PASTOR'S VITAL RESOURCE: LIVING IN AND UNDER THE POWERFUL ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Youth Pastor's Vital Resource:
Living In And Under The Powerful Anointing Of The Holy Spirit
Frank Damazio
Introduction: The complexity of the youth pastor's leadership role is real and can be very challenging. The average youth pastor is not a seminary graduate with a Ph.D. in adolescent behavior or a Masters degree in the complexity of the philosophy of culture. The youth pastor usually has not been married long enough to have teens himself, but is still young enough to relate to teens as a friend, a father figure, a counselor, a relationship specialist, a music analyst, an encourager and a confronter at the same time. The pressures of being successful in all of the right areas is virtually impossible in the natural realm. We cannot possibly fulfill the expectations of all the people we serve. In this pressure cooker, the youth pastor may become discouraged, moody, hindered and cynical or he/she may become a Holy Spirit empowered leader. The source of the youth pastor's success is found in the Holy Spirit. He is the only resource that can fulfill all these expectations. You simply must live with the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Zechariah 4:6 So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord of hosts."
