INTRODUCTION: I heard about a young man who came up to his Pastor to tell him that he was going to get married. The Pastor said, ''Well congratulations son - that's wonderful - tell me about her''. The young man replied well Pastor she's a Christian, real involved in her Church, she comes from a great family, there's only one thing wrong with her, she's a butterhead.'' The Pastor said, ''Son, I'm not real sure I know what that is, what's a butterhead. She's pretty everywhere but her head.''
Sometimes a Christian can be right in every place but her head.
The battle is most often won or lost in your mind.
A.W. Tozer was correct when he said, ''what comes to your mind when you think about God is the most important thing about us...''
Your personal view of God affects every single decision that you make.
What if I asked you, ''What determines the success of your marriage more than anything else?'' I'm telling you, it's your personal view of God.
What determines how you respond to tragedy? Good fortune? Frustrations? Disappointments? Ultimately how you view God determines everything.
It makes all the difference in the world when you are facing the loss of a loved one whether you view God as highly involved or uninvolved, in control or out of control.
People say, ''Whatever you believe about God is fine so long as you are sincere.''
Is that true of you? Are you ok if I describe you as a sumo wrestler or a ballerina?
I hear people say, ''I like to think of God as....'' Friend if God were a figment of our imagination that might be possible, but He is no fantasy. HE IS THE REAL LIVING GOD. Not a religious buffet - you take HIM or nothing.
