Chasing Chariots (2 of 3)
Series: Making a Difference
Pastor Jeff Schreve
Acts 8:25-40
In 1988 I began working for a chemical company I was hired to be a salesman. And the company I worked for was a top-notch company it was the leader in the industry and the job was really, really hard there was lots to learn. Selling water treatment chemicals I had to learn all about a lot of things related to chemistry and how water works and how boilers work and cooling powers work and wastewater treatment plants and man it was tough. And there were lots of reports to do and lots of things that the company wanted me to do but you know the main thing they hired me to do and I worked there for about ten years, the main thing they hired me to do was to sell chemicals. In any sales job regardless of what all the company may have you do the main thing that you're hired to do is to sell, to sell that product. And if you're not selling that product you're not doing a very good job. And you can't say "I'm really tearing them up at my company." "Well how are your sales?" "Well, I haven't sold anything in three years but I'm doing good." You know you wouldn't be doing well you'd be looking for a new job if you hadn't sold anything in three years. But that's the job and the goal and when you cut through all of the red tape, what you're hired to do as a salesman, is to sell. main thing that God has called His children to do? What is the main thing that God has left us here on the earth to do? Jesus said before He was taken up to heaven He said "But you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in Judea and in Samaria and even to the remotest part of the earth." The last thing Jesus said in the gospel of Matthew, we call it the Great Commission, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And lo I am with you always, even to the end of the earth. ...
