Proverbs 18:21
Have you ever noticed how little things can have a big impact? How little things can have so much power? Have you ever noticed a little ant? A little ant, it, it's amazing when you watch ants. Little ants can lift about 20 times their body weight. They can run, relative to their size and to how they're shaped, they can run and move very fast. You know, if, if you had the strength of an ant, if I had the strength of an ant, I could bench press 4,000 lbs and I could run as fast as a racehorse. That's a little ant. A lot of power in that little guy.
How about in grooming. There used to be a product. It was called Brill Crème. I, I don't know if they have Brill Crème anymore. I'm kind of out of the hair care products. But there used to be a product called Brille Crème, and their sales pitch was, "A little dab will do yaw." How many of you used a little dab of Brill Crème? Larry? He's not here. He doesn't use Brill Crème anymore either. "A little dab will do yaw."
How many people like to cook? Ah, have you ever made chili? Have you ever used cayenne pepper in chili? How much of that stuff do you have to put into a big pot of chili? Not much, otherwise nobody's going to eat it. That, that's something that a little bit has a lot of power.
How about this: A match. This is, ah, just a little matchstick. It's about an inch and a half long. But did you know this little match has such power if it doesn't get blown out? I got blown out. I had power for a second and then it was gone. A match has so much power. A little match can be used to build a fire to warm you or start a fire to destroy you. A match has tremendous power.
Did you know that the Bible likens a part of our body that's not very big but has such tremendous power - it's the tongue. And the Bible likens the tongue, likens the tongue to fire. And the tongue can be used to bless or it can be us ...
